Brood X
The sound of cicadas remind me of summer in my childhood home! This year, many states will be experiencing a higher volume of what are called periodical cicadas. The major differences are their black bodies, clear/transparent wings, and red eyes. They range from 3-4 inches from wingtip to wingtip fully grown! They were spawned around 2004 and their new eggs will be in the ground for another 15-17 years!
Cicadas are expected to start emerging April 18 and end around July 18. They will be very loud since it will be such a large grouping! They rank as loud as 90-100 decibels which is louder than a lawnmower at 3 feet away!
